Georgia and Josh's Maternity Session

Wow, was this a fantastic evening!!!

This was one of those ideas that I had had in my mind for weeks. Up until this very evening, I had not done any maternity shoots. Mainly because I wanted it to be so perfect when I did that I didn't want to rush it just to get some images to advertise. Due to the beautiful Summer nights we had been having, I knew I had to try for golden hour sunshine. There really is no light like it. It is so romantic and flattering and the vision I had was all of this.

And then, one of my best friends told me she is going to have a grandbaby!!!

Well, you can imagine my excitement when she told me. I had the perfect models for my shoot now too so it was time to start putting together my other bits and pieces to make this shoot sensational. I thought long and hard about a great location. It envisioned long grass, with golden sunlight, a modern touch somewhere, natural and airy. My friend got married at the Castlegrounds and so I put it to them to maybe go there. It had a double meaning that way, it was special to my friend and also for her son and his girlfriend to have maternity photos there, it would be double the specialness. So that was it, we arranged a Saturday evening...

And it rained! Typical!

I was so looking forward to it but luckily could check the weather beforehand and decided to be safe, we should just rearrange for the following Sunday. And my goodness were the weather Gods kind to us! It was the perfect evening. The sun was low in the sky, there was hardly a soul around, it was warm and still and honestly made my heart full. I had prepared Georgia a few days earlier with a handmade, maternity gown and it honestly fit her like a dream. I had also given Josh some suggestions of what to wear so he would compliment Georgia in her outfit.

I wanted the session to be classic. I wanted to have a timeless look that was modern but not too modern. I wanted to capture the posed, glamorous shots as well as the natural shots capturing Georgia and Josh just how they are. Sometimes the best photos are the ones you don't plan to capture. The one where you catch them looking at each other, the ones where they're being silly and laughing. I was so lucky to get all of those in their shoot. These guys were so good at following my direction. The last thing I would want is to make someone feel uncomfortable or awkward when I ask for certain poses and these guys rocked it.

I wanted to make sure we covered everything that evening. We visited lots of parts of the grounds to vary their gallery photos which as a bit of walking about but Georgia and Josh were happy with that. They had brought along a couple of items to be photographed with like the baby vest and scan photo and we got some cool quirky images using those. I also arranged for balloons for the shoot too as Georgia and Josh know they are having a little girl and so they made a nice addition to photos too.

Maternity sessions with me will always be relaxed. I want my clients to feel confident and happy when capturing memories of their last few weeks before baby arrives. And my sessions don't have to be all out glamorous if that's just not you. We can go casual and natural and just capture you guys in your jeans, laughing with each other in the sunshine. It really doesn't matter how you capture it as long as it is special for you.

So all you need to think about is where you'd like your photos taken (I can suggest places should you need some help) and decide what you're going to wear. I do have a couple of maternity gowns that I can lend out but if you are happier wearing your own clothes that's absolutely fine!

Let me bring the creativity and you bring the love and smiles...
